Singer/songwriter Jennifer Fiedler is one-half of rising country duo, Smithfield. As a rising act, Jennifer must be ready for anything that comes her way, from outdoor festivals to arena stages. As festival season gets underway, Jennifer is sharing her fashion and beauty dos and don’ts with fans in hopes of helping them beat the heat thus summer. But gentlemen, don’t fret, Jennifer’s bandmate Trey Smith has some tips for you too!

JENN:
Summertime means country music festival season for us. And one thing is for sure – Trey and I are always looking for ways to beat the heat! For clothing, one of my absolute go-to items for summer festival season is always cut-off blue, white or black jean shorts. This year I am loving the high-waisted style shorts because they go so well with cute little crop tops. Express has some of my favorite high-waisted shorts right now. I just picked up two pairs for CMA Fest – one with sparkle stars and the other with printed flowers.

Crop tops are my next go-to clothing item – those and graphic tank tees are my faves for summer. Pair these cute and casual items with some fun jewelry or cute bandanas around the neck or hair, a pair of short booties and you’ve got a stellar outfit.

Jenn’s Pro Tip: Never wear gray. It shows sweat the worst!

TREY:
Summer is simple for me. I always wear light colored skinny jeans, Levi’s are my go to for comfort and style and they come in all different shades of jean color. I usually wear low cut, basic neck tees but if it’s really hot I’ll bring out a tank, and short sleeve button up shirts that have fun prints for summer. I never go on stage outside without my aviator shades.

Trey’s Pro Tip: If I’m having a bad hair day and it’s not sitting right, I just throw on a cool snap back and that does the trick!

JENN:
I always make sure I’m protecting my skin and I always have at least SPF 15 on my face. Because of that, my favorite go-to is Bare Minerals powder foundation. It already has the SPF in the make-up, and I love it because liquid foundation tends to just melt off your face. The Bare Minerals foundation covers like a liquid, but doesn’t melt off and the matte really helps with shine (a.k.a. shine that is really sweat)! I finish off my make-up with a setting spray from MAC called Finishing Mist. You can get them in scents too. My favorite is lavender!

For my lips, I love an item from Victoria’s Secret called “gloss balm.” I have it in several colors and it goes on smooth and looks like a gloss, but doesn’t feel sticky like a gloss. Being outside on stage the wind can blow my hair around and that’s why I stay away from glossy lipstick in summertime.

An absolute must-have item for my summer hair is humidity spray. If I’m outside, it’s on my hair! My favorite pick is Oribe humidity spray. The Oribe comes in travel size which is perfect for me. For my summer hairstyle, if it’s not down in curly waves I love to put it up in the summer. One of my favorite styles is a curled, high ponytail with a cute braid. I’ll either have a fish tail on top or a simple braid to the side – it always gives a simple ponytail a little extra pizazz!

Jenn’s Pro Tip:
Avoid glossy lipstick – especially on those windy days! You don’t want your hair stuck to your face.

Smithfield Pro Tip:
It sounds simple but we both drink a TON of water. It’s so important to stay hydrated especially in the summer heat and when we are on stage it makes a huge difference! Swell bottles are our favorite item to keep water cold for over 12 hours!!
