The miracle adoption of her daughter Dolly inspired Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman to turn her story into a new children’s book. Titled A Dolly for Christmas: The True Story of a Family’s Christmas Miracle, the book shares the journey of Schlapman’s oldest daughter Daisy asking her parents for a sibling and how the new baby joined their family during the holidays.
“It’s our family’s story about little Daisy, our Daisy so desperately wanting a sibling,” Schlapman shared in a video announcing the book. “She prayed for five years, every night she prayed for a baby. My husband and I had a struggle trying to have a second child. Then it’s also about our journey to and through adoption.
“It’s a sweet story of hope and faith and love and never ever giving up on a dream. I just can’t wait to share it with you,” she adds.
Schlapman and her husband Stephen shared the news of their addition in January 2017 in a sweet photo to Instagram.
