Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere Excited and Nervous For ‘Nashville’ Roles

ABC has recently picked up a new musical drama called “Nashville.” Starring Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere, “Nashville” bases itself around a singer who is forced to work with an up-and-coming star because her popularity is beginning to fade. Britton will play 40-year-old married mother of two Rayna James who finds herself on tour with Juliette Barnes (Panettiere).

In an interview with E! Online, the stars of the show shared that they are ready to get to work. Britton, who is known for her roles on “Friday Night Lights” and “American Horror Story,” is nervous for the singing party of the show. “For me, it was kind of a big challenge; it was a big departure for me in a lot of ways to play this country-western star. I haven’t sung in a very long time,” she said. “I can sing. I will continue to keep working on it and all that, but I’m excited to play this character because it’s just a very cool, well-developed, no pun intended, woman.”

Panettiere is looking forward to the role because she is a country music fan herself. “I’ve always loved country music, but when you’re from New York, people are like, ‘Country music? Where’s the connection there?'” she explained.

And even though the actresses are rivals in the drama, Panettiere insists that she loves her costar and hates being mean to her. “Every time I had to be a you-know-what to her in the scene, I was like, ‘As long as you don’t’ really hate me at the end of the day!'”
