As Hank Williams Jr. sang, “Are you ready for some fooootbaaaawwlll?!” Well, you’d better be, because both college and the NFL have officially kicked off their new seasons. And with ballgames comes pregames, so it’s time to figure out where you’ll be tailgating before upcoming Titans games. (And we’re not talking about doing the work yourself in some parking lot because if you remember that old “Mayhem” insurance commercial, that can end badly.)

Since the Titans ended their last season with a heartbreaking loss to the Colts that eliminated the two-tone blue from playoff contention, a few new excellent pregame options have opened within easy walking distance of Nissan Stadium. Here are some great spots for you to hang before or after the game:

Bode Nashville is a new hotel that recently opened in a converted apartment complex at the corner of 2nd Ave South and Korean Veterans Blvd., right next to a bridge over the Cumberland River offering easy access to the stadium. Bode is a new sort of property, a full-service hotel that offers the best of hotel amenities and residential living. Multi-bedroom units are equipped with full kitchens and separate living areas so that you can host your own pregame party in your room or you can take advantage of their weekly tailgate parties in a public space they call “The Hub.” This indoor/outdoor area has a full bar and coffee shop plus a lounge where you can hang out and enjoy light snacks.

The outdoor portion of The Hub has both covered and exposed areas where you can play games like cornhole or ping pong, or gather around one of their many fire pits if it’s a little chilly later in the season. On game Sundays, Bode is hosting tailgate parties that are open to the public as well as guests with a big screen television showing ballgames, food and drink specials including discounted beers and mimosas and brats cooked on a grill. The parties will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm each day, so drop in and make the short stroll across the bridge in time for kickoff.

A little longer of a walk to the stadium, but no less fun, is the new 6th & Peabody development. This sprawling entertainment complex is a collaboration between Yee Haw Brewing Company and Ole Smoky Moonshine, two East Tennessee companies that have earned quite a following in Music City. The 30,000 square-foot party palace is made up of several buildings and outdoor areas that cover an entire city block, with all sorts of eating and drinking options. In addition to all that great beer and moonshine, they also offer fantastic food options from Nashville’s famous Prince’s Hot Chicken and Asheville’s White Duck Taco Shop.

There are multiple spaces for live music plus one of the largest television screens in town to watch games from comfy couches. The outdoor area is like the ultimate backyard with plenty of room for hanging out with friends and playing games. In fact, you might have to set yourself an alarm to remind you to go to the game because you’re having so much fun!

The Corner Pub is already a Nashville favorite because of their numerous locations around town, but their latest edition downtown might just be the jewel in the crown. Located at 151 5th Ave North, The Corner Pub Downtown starts out with the major advantage of being in the same building as a huge parking garage, a real benefit on game days. Inside, the bar area is cavernous with huge floor-to-ceiling windows letting in plenty of light. One wall is covered with a massive 48 ft. (not inches like what you call a “big screen” at home) LED video wall that can show multiple games or just one b-i-i-i-i-g game. Kick back with one of The Corner Pub’s 48 draft beer options and a diverse food menu featuring burgers and wings plus classic meat & three dishes like meatloaf and fried chicken. They also offer some Mexican fare like tacos and fajitas thanks to a relationship with their sister restaurant Esquina Cantina.

If you’re looking for some variety when the home team is on the road, keep on top of the latest news from the Titans about their “Gameday Hangouts,” a series of viewing parties at fun bars and restaurants around town. They’ve already announced visits over the first few weeks to popular spots like Von Elrod’s Beer Hall & Kitchen, Neighbors Germantown, Acme Feed and Seed, Downtown Sporting Club and Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint’s downtown location. In addition to showing the games, your Gameday Hangout hosts will offer food and drink specials plus Titans swag giveaways, so make plans to root for your boys in blue with your fellow fans.
