Taylor Swift Named NSAI Songwriter-Artist Of The Year

Taylor Swift was named the Nashville Songwriter’s Association International (NSAI) Songwriter-Artist of the Year on Sunday night at their annual awards dinner in Nashville. This is the third time in four year that Swift has earned the honor. She was honored for writing “Fifteen,” “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me.”

“Since I can remember, my favorite thing in the whole world was a good story…going back to when my mom and dad would read me stories when I was little, and then discovering poetry in English class, she said while accepting the award. “Then I discovered this town called Nashville, where they tell the coolest stories. In my opinion, they tell them in the most magical ways.”

“I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so generous with me,” she added. “Whether it was telling fairy tales or sad stories or stories that were just about my life and what I was going through, you’ve been wonderful to me. And I’m having a blast telling stories.”

Additional songwriters were also honored at the annual dinner. Chris DuBois, who was named songwirter of the Year. DuBois co-wrote Brad Paisley’s hits “Then” and “Welcome To The Future” as well as Craig Morgan’s “This Ain’t Nothin.” The honor of Song of the Year went to Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me,” which was penned by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin.

Four new members (Pat Alger, Steve Cropper and the late Paul Davis and Stephen Foster) were added to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame as well. Artists such as Garth Brooks, Tanya Tucker and Jimmy Wayne performed to honor the new inductees.

Every year the NSAI votes on a list of then songs they wish they had written. This year there were 11 because there was a tie between two songs. The 11 “Songs I Wish I’d Written” include the following:
