After stopping in cities such as London, Hong Kong, and Madrid, Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now 2011 World Tour’ is well underway here in the United States. The superstar brings out all the bells and whistles for her new tour, which features multiple set changes and costume changes as well as pyrotechnics, dancers, lighted trees, a flying balcony, a full blown wedding and more. Swift recently opened up about her inspiration for the tour, revealing that she was inspired by Broadway when designing and planning her tour.

“The first time that I fell in love with performing is when I went to go see theater in my hometown in Pennsylvania,” Swift said after her recent performance at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines (via Billboard.com). “I would see it done incredibly well — going to see Broadway plays of ‘Wicked’ — things like that just really inspired me from an early age to love putting on a theatrical performance where there are storylines and characters, and you’re always seeing a scene change into another scene. I love telling a story in any way possible.”

Telling stories is what Swift does best. On this tour fans will literally see her hits come to life, which is exactly what she set out to do.

“We spent months going over the set list and just thinking of where things would go, which ones would segue well into other songs and how we could tell individual stories,” she said. “I didn’t want to tell one big story. I wanted each song to have its own story.”
