In this edition of In Her Own Words, Sony Music Nashville recording artist Tenille Townes shared her experience traveling over to Europe to perform for the C2C Festival dates in Berlin, Germany and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The performances, which took place on March 7 and 8, were the kick off to the official C2C Festival in London, England; Dublin, Ireland; and Glasgow, Scotland. Though the festival ended up being postponed for the time being, the shows in Berlin and Amsterdam went off without a hitch. So here, in her own words, is a reflection of Tenille’s short, but meaningful trip abroad.

Hey Guys!! Sure hope this finds you having a wonderful day wherever you might be, hopefully finding some rest and enjoying the quiet moments of this social distancing. What a hard thing to do!!!! I’m sure missing being at shows right now and am very sad that the Europe adventure was cut short, but thankful for the time we had on this trip. And grateful to be home safe and sound resting and recharging the creative spirit right now, and already can’t wait to get back to the UK to play more shows hopefully very soon!

This trip was my first time playing in Germany and I loved getting a moment to explore Berlin. I had my very first High Tea experience which was so fun, and I loved getting to walk around the Berlin Wall and admire the beautiful murals painted on what remains of it now. What used to be the greatest symbol of division splitting the city, now is this incredible collection of art where people wander together and feel inspired. I loved it.

The shows in Berlin and Amsterdam were both such a joy. It’s incredible being so far from home, surrounded by all kinds of different accents and languages, feeling this overwhelming love for Country Music. You could see the smiles on peoples faces in the audience, listening and cheering and it just is such a beautiful sight that makes the world feel so much smaller. I had a blast sharing the stage with my friends Abby Anderson and Eric Paslay for CMA’s Introducing Nashville, a songwriter’s round where we each took turns playing songs and telling stories, truly introducing one of my favorite kind of shows that happens in Nashville.

We stayed a few extra days in Amsterdam before we were about to head to London for the rest of the C2C Festival shows, and my goodness I fell in love with that city. All of the cobblestone streets and little bridges between the canals were so peaceful to walk around. I was enchanted by all the quaint shops and cafes and drank plenty chai lattes and enjoyed lots of delicious meals. At night, all the bridges are covered in sweet little lights and the street lights have this glow to them that makes you feel like you are back in time in the best way. It was a gorgeous place to spend a little extra time in and I’d go back in a heartbeat, just to keep wandering.

I truly was so looking forward to the shows in Cologne, Munich, London, Glasgow, and Dublin, and my heart is very excited to go back the next chance that we get!!! I sure can’t wait for the next adventures. Until then, and in this crazy time right now where we are all staying in our homes, I’m so thankful music is this thing that still connects us. That wraps its arms around us even when we can’t be together and makes us feel less alone, sitting in very much a lonely time. I think we need that now more than ever. Sending you guys the biggest hug out there. xo Tenille
