The Judds to Reunite at 2022 CMT Music Awards

One of country’s most indelible and recognizable duos is planning a surprise reunion. The Judds — the mother-and-daughter duo of Wynonna and Naomi Judd — will be back together at the 2022 CMT Music Awards.

Marking the duo’s first awards-show performance in more than 20 years, the onstage reunion will find The Judds singing a still-relevant hit with a unifying message, the 1990 classic, “Love Can Build A Bridge.” The moment will take place at Nashville’s Country Music Hall of Fame and serves to highlight The Judds’ upcoming induction to the Hall in May, and hit maker Kacey Musgraves will introduce them.

“Surprise!!! Mom & I are reuniting as @thejuddsofficial on the @CMT Awards stage with a special performance of “Love Can Build a Bridge” for YOU, the fans!” Wynonna wrote on her Instagram feed. “Tune in to CBS on April 11 at 8/7c to see who wears more rhinestones. ✨ #CMTAwards

As The Judds, the mom/daughter team released their first single in 1983, and their unmistakable harmonies soon led to multiple Grammy Awards and 14 Number One hits like “Mama He’s Crazy,” “Have Mercy” and “Grandpa (Tell Me ‘Bout the Good Old Days).” The duo disbanded for personal reasons in 1991 but reunited for a live album and EP in 2000, and have performed together only sporadically for special events since then.

In May, The Judds will enter the Country Music Hall of Fame alongside Ray Charles and musicians Eddie Bayers and Pete Drake. Other performers at the 2022 CMT Music Awards will include co-host Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Maren Morris + Ryan Hurd, Carly Pearce, Cole Swindell + Lainey Wilson and Keith Urban. Fan voting is live now, and the show will air April 11 on CBS Television Network and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET.
