The second night of Battle Rounds for season 17 of NBC’s The Voice seemed to be over as quickly as they began. As always is in these face-offs, the competition is fierce, but so benevolent between the competitors and the decision is unbelievably difficult for the coaches.
Fortunately, the ability to “save” a member of their team remained for coaches Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton and the “steal” option remained for all of the contestants.
Here’s how the competition continued:
TEAM KELLY and NORMANI
ALEX GUTHRIE (25) and INJOY FOUNTAIN (28)
Battle track – “Home” by Marc Broussard
Winner: ALEX
KELLY: “Alex has a very versatile voice, his range is insane. It was a little hard for everybody to hear on this particular song but I think that Alex is going to be really impressive in the Knockouts.
TEAM GWEN and WILL.I.AM
ELISE AZKOUL (28) and MYRACLE HOLLOWAY (44)
Battle track – “Breathin’” by Ariana Grande
Winner: MYRACLE
GWEN: “I really had to go with Myracle because she really moves people and she has a special gift.”
TEAM JOHN and USHER
KATIE KADAN (38) and DESTINY RAYNE (23)
Battle track – “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John
Standing ovation
Winner: Katie
JOHN: “Katie’s voice is so rich, it’s so powerful. She’s just a superstar and there’s no way I couldn’t pick her.”
STEAL: Blake and Gwen (as Destiny was leaving the stage)
DESTINY picked Gwen
The following battles were not televised, but these are the results:
TEAM JOHN and USHER
MAX BOYLE (23) and MATT NEW (29)
Battle track – “Let Me Love You” by DJ Snake and Justin Bieber
Winner: MAX
TEAM BLAKE and DARIUS RUCKER
CALI WILSON (28) and ELLIEMAE (21)
Battle track – “Miss Me More” by Kelsea Ballerini
