A budding country star and former winner of NBC’s ‘The Voice’ used his smooth singing to share some big news on social media. On Tuesday (March 22), Jake Hoot and his wife Brittney revealed they are expecting their first child together.

Making the exciting announcement in song, Hoot used his acclaimed vocal talent to say a baby is on the way. In a video posted to Instagram, the Tennessee native is seen sitting on a bed with an acoustic guitar, with a caption that says “Wait for it…” Hoot then begins strumming and singing a few simple lines, while his daughter from a previous relationship — 6-year-old Macy — holds up cue cards with the song’s lyrics. Then Hoot’s wife, Brittney, enters the frame, and the family deliver their happy news together.

“Life was sweet / You made it sweeter / Life was complete / You made it completer / We didn’t know just how much we needed you / Baby Hoot comin’ soon,” the song goes.

The couple have not shared a due date, but the cue cards suggest “Baby Hoot” will arrive sometime in 2022. Hoot and longtime girlfriend Brittney Hoyt were married in March of 2021, following Hoot’s big win on Season 17 of The Voice in 2019.

After The Voice, Hoot has released a number of country tracks including “Tennessee Strong,” which he dedicated to his hometown of Cookeville following a deadly tornado in 2020. Other songs include the singles “Better Off Without You” and “I Would Have Loved You” (with his Voice coach Kelly Clarkson), plus a 2021 Christmas song called “When Christmas Has Come and Gone” (featuring The Tenors).
