The country superstar strummed his acoustic guitar as he sang with relief over returning to who he used to be and the simple things in life. With his ensemble matching the hometown sound of the track, Rhett effortlessly took command of the stage with fans from the crowd singing the words they relate to so well.
While simplistic in nature, Rhett gave off the same attitude and grit he once did when he first hit the country scene years ago. The performance was a reminder of his dedication to his craft within the genre despite experimenting with other sounds recently.
Rhett, who expecting his fourth baby girl with his wife Lauren, will spend much of the remainder of the year out on the road for his headlining The Center Point Road Tour. The trek will take him to 25 cities across North America. Fans attending the show will get a lineup of openers including either Rhett Akins and Gabby Barrett or Cole Swindell and Conner Smith. Outside of music, the singer also released a new line of sandals with footwear brand Chaco.
Other performances from country music’s only fan-voted awards show include Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, Kane Brown, Lauren Alaina and more.
The 2021 CMT Awards, hosted by Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini, will air live on Wednesday, June 9 at 8 p.m. ET on CMT, MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network and TV Land. Voting is open for Video of the Year from now through Wednesday, June 9. Check out a full list of the nominees here.
