Thomas Rhett Named Country Artist of the Year at 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards

Thomas Rhett beat out some stuff competition for the title of Country Artist of the Year for the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Thomas Rhett is no doubt becoming one of country music’s biggest superstars and his status among the elite was confirmed when he was named Country Artist of the Year for the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

Beating out Blake SheltonJason AldeanLuke Bryan, and Sam Hunt, the “Marry Me” singer couldn’t believe he’d been named the winner.

“Wow, Country Artist of the Year. That is… that is insane. Thank you guys so much for voting for that and voting me in there because there was so many great country artists out there that also just deserve this completely. So I’m blown away that you have given this to me,” he said in a video acceptance speech.

After thanking the iHeartRadio team and his Valory label family, Rhett went on to thank some other special supporters in his life.

“Thank you so much to the fans, who come out to the shows and support us day in, day out,” he continued.”To my wife, who helps me pick these songs that go on the records and tells me when I’m doing something dumb in a show and I can fix it on the next one. Thank you to the Lord for allowing me to do this crazy career and this life. It’s been a real honor. Thank you guys so much. This is really cool.

Rhett is also vying for Country Song of the Year with his smash, “Unforgettable.”

Fans tuning in to the awards show broadcast may not get a performance from the 2018 Country Artist of the Year, but they will get to see Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, Maroon 5, Camila Cabello, Charlie Puth, Eminem, G-Eazy, Kehlani, and N.E.R.D. take the stage. Diddy, Bebe Rexha, Laverne Cox, Method Man, Halsey, and more are expected to present.

The 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards will take place on Sunday, March 11 at the “Fabulous” Forum in Los Angeles. The event will simulcast live across multiple platforms: TBS, TNT and truTV at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT; on iHeartMedia radio stations nationwide; the iHeartRadio app; and on the truTV, TNT & TBS Apps.
