Thomas Rhett Gives Update on Soon-to-Arrive Daughter Number Four
“I feel like I’ve got the ropes down," says the experienced girl-dad.
Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins are expecting an addition to the family soon, with baby girl number four on the way. And recently, the “Country Again” singer opened up to PEOPLE about how things are going.
The new baby will join the families previous three daughters — Willa Gray (5), Ada James (3 1/2) and Lennon Love (14 months). And while you’d expect those girls to be excited for another sister to play with, TR says they might actually be just a little disappointed.
“Lauren was showing them the pregnancy test and she was like, ’This means that you’re going to have another sister.’ And they both were just like ’But we wanted a brother!’ And they looked at me like it was my fault, and I was like, ’No, this is going to be awesome. Maybe one day we’ll have a boy,’” he admitted.
The hit maker is positive they’ll be glad for it in the end, though, and also noted that much like her previous pregnancies, his wife Lauren has been a “trooper.” She’s been battling nausea almost constantly, with Thomas Rhett calling the fourth go-around “probably one of the worst for her as far as nausea and yakking all day.”
“Lauren just has rough pregnancies,” TR went on. “I’m sure there’s a lot of moms out there that feel that way. But when Lauren gets pregnant, the whole getting sick first trimester and then you’re done just has never really applied to her. … It’s just really sad because I feel like I can’t do anything to help, except order Taco Bell at 11:30 at night to put something in her stomach.”
But overall, both the country star and his wife are still feeling confident, knowing that it will all lead to another baby girl to love. And TR says he’s already well versed in the job ahead.
“I feel like I’ve got the ropes down as to what that looks like, being a dad to a girl. So when I found out we were having a fourth, I was like, well, we’ve already got the clothes, I know how to do this, this is just round four of it,” he said. “My girls are my whole world and there truly is nothing more special than being a dad of beautiful little girls and something that I take a lot of pride in. It’s going to be a wild and chaotic next 25 years, but I’m ready to embrace it.”
