When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down live music in March, country stars suddenly found themselves with a whole lot of extra time this year. While being off the road for a whole year is not ideal, many artists found the positive side to having some down time, and that is especially true for Thomas Rhett, who was forced to slow down. He says this newfound lesson is one he hopes to continue.

“You know, 2020 has definitely been hard in many ways, especially for a lot of different families who have either lost work or people that have been on the front lines working in hospitals, or teachers trying to teach three-year-old’s how to learn their letters and their numbers,” Rhett shared. “But for us, I think 2020 has had several silver linings, and for me, I think I was going at such a rapid pace that 2020 definitely forced me to slow down.  And so I hope I can take that mindset back into 2021.”

Although Rhett has slowed down with touring, he and his family have had the chance to spend quality time traveling. Over the course of the year, the singer posted photos from trips to the beach, Colorado, South Carolina, Montana and Wyoming. Just this week, he shared snaps from a getaway he and Lauren had in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Thomas and Lauren also came together to host CMA Country Christmas, which aired on November 30. As for what they have planned for their family Christmas, they can expect to spend time at their home, which has become the central location for family celebrations.

“Obviously in 2020 this party’s gonna look a little bit different, but we just love having people in our house,” Rhett shared. “I mean, there’s literally so many people in our house on a daily basis, whether it’s our friends or our family, our house seems to be the central location where people want to hang out, and we always seem to hang out in the kitchen for some reason.”
