Thomas Rhett has had a good amount of time to find inspiration for songwriting purposes, and this time, he looked no further than his wife, Lauren.

The ‘Be a Light’ singer debuted a new song he wrote on Instagram called “That’ll Be Us Someday,” and Rhett explained to viewers in the intro that he was thinking about his beloved significant other when he penned the track.

“Sorry for the overload of songs, I just keep writing them. I wrote this one about me and Lauren, and this one is called ‘That’ll Be Us Someday,'” he said before starting to strum his acoustic guitar.

The romantic sentiment Rhett reference throughout the song is a rather nostalgic one, as he sings about a simple wedding day memory and the emotion behind the little moments.

“‘I do’ and a ring on your hand / Raise a toast with some cheap champagne / Tears fall from your daddy on your first dance / Couple cans on a Chevrolet,” Rhett croons.

He then goes on to tell the story of the life he pictured with his sweetheart, complete with a few kids and a hometown happily ever after.

“Couple kids running wild in the backyard / Handprints on a new driveway / Road trips in a packed out old car / Little league on Saturday / You call me a crazy dreamer / But I’m going to dream away / ‘Cause I can see us together / My love, that’ll be us someday,” Rhett sings.

The singer has dabbled in the wedding song category before, with his huge hit, “Die a Happy Man.” He is also known for other romantic tracks inspired by Lauren, like “Sixteen,” “Look What God Gave Her” and “Star of the Show.”

Rhett has been spending a lot of his time during the COVID-19 pandemic creating new music in the comfort of his home. He shares many of his ideas through IGTV, whether they be complete songs or just snippets of what’s to come.

As fans await the potential release of his IGTV songs, they can purchase his current single, “Be a Light,” with proceeds benefiting the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
