Thomas Rhett and Tyler Hubbard Bond Over Fatherhood Balance

“It's cool because we both experienced those same freedoms and now we're kinda, we're in this place where we love having children but we're both kind of getting used to the fact of what our new life is now," Rhett explained.

Thomas Rhett and Tyler Hubbard already relate to each other on a number of levels from their music careers to their unique sense of fashion. But now the two guys keep one thing on their mind when they hang out and catch up: their kids.

While Rhett adopted daughter Willa Gray from Africa and welcomed in baby Ada James in the middle of 2017, Hubbard and his wife brought daughter Olivia Rose into the world right before the 2017 Christmas holiday. Now that the two singers understand what it’s like to be dads to wonderful little girls, they spend a lot of their time exchanging hilarious parenthood stories and making sure everything’s going good in the family life.

“Tyler Hubbard is one of my best friends in the world and so we relate on a level that I don’t relate with with some people that don’t have children. It’s funny, when you do have kids, all of the sudden things that you talk about like sleep don’t make sense to people that don’t have children. And so Tyler…we both lived the same life and now we’re living the same life except for we have two and they have one, which is way harder, by the way,” Rhett joked to Sounds Like Nashville and other media at a recent event.

At least Rhett and the Florida Georgia Line member know the highs and lows of becoming a father, which allows them to bounce off each other for opinions on how to keep that work-life balance in check.

“But it’s been really cool to kinda just talk with Tyler and share like ‘Are you sleeping on the road? Are you sleeping at home? Does it kill you when you have to leave Liv?’ Or me leaving Willa Gray and Ada,” Rhett explained. “It’s cool because we both experienced those same freedoms and now we’re kinda, we’re in this place where we love having children but we’re both kind of getting used to the fact of what our new life is now. So it’s really nice to have a buddy that also does music for a living as well.”

Currently, Rhett is enjoying time off before he hits the road for his Life Changes Tour this spring.
