Thomas Rhett Used Actual ‘Vacation’ Footage for Music Video

Vacation typically involves no form of work whatsoever, but Thomas Rhett made the two form together in the music video for his current single, “Vacation.”

Rhett got the brilliant idea to bring portable cameras out with him and his family while visiting his favorite destination, Hawaii, and documented all of their fun adventures. From cliff jumping to skydiving, every moment is pieced together in the video to show off the dream vacation in tropical paradise. Although it could have been annoying or stressful to take care of business during a time of relaxation, Rhett and Co. didn’t even really think about the work factor while filming.

“It didn’t even feel like making a music video honestly,” Rhett said. “We were literally just getting in the ocean and doing things that probably could’ve hurt us really bad. And someone happened to capture it on an iPhone and a GoPro. And I probably would not have skydived if it was not for that video, but my wife and friends convinced me to get on the plane. And you could see my sheer fear when I’m up in that plane, but I’m so glad that we got to capture what Hawaii means to us. You know, that’s kinda been our spot since our honeymoon. So to be able to have two music videos in a row capture our favorite place on the earth, that’s pretty cool.”

The video itself basically looks like a motion-based postcard of the island state and all of the exhilarating activities that visitors can participate in while there. Rhett and his family are no different as they master the elements during the length of the music video and make it look fun all the while.
