Tim McGraw: “Music Is My First Love”
One thing that hasn’t come so easy for Tim is losing the country star reputation while on a movie set. He hopes he can separate himself as an actor, not just a country singer who stars in movies. “You don’t want anybody coming in the film and every scene I’m in saying, ‘Isn’t that the guy who sings country?’ ” he says. “If that starts happening, you sort of ruin the movie… So I know that’s a fear that anybody has in hiring me, and, hopefully, that’s going to go away.”
As far as the music, Tim has a new album ready to go and he’s hopeful it will be released in the spring. He’s preparing to part ways with longtime label, Curb Records, a move that he says is long overdue. “I’ve got some really good options out there. I’m at a really good point in my career… I really think I’m at the beginning of my career. I’ve got a lot more ahead of me than behind me. I really only think I’m about 30% into it.” he said (via The Boot). “It’s a long time coming. Twenty years with any label, I think, is too much, so unless you’re really having a great relationship … I think it’s a good time for me to go out and see what’s out there for me.”
He plans on following up the new album with a tour; a tour during which you may see his Country Strong co-star Gwyneth Paltrow. During the Country Strong premiere a couple of weeks ago, Gwyneth said that Tim “keeps joking that I should go on the road as his opening act. And I keep saying, 'Let's do it. Let's make it happen.' I don't know about a whole tour but a string of nights could be fun.”
With the release of Country Strong on January 7 and a possible new album in the coming months, Tim is getting 2011 started off right for his fans!
