Travis Tritt Plans New Dave-Cobb Produced Album, ‘Set In Stone’
He'll unveil the single "Smoke In a Bar" March 5.
Country favorite Travis Tritt is plotting a comeback, announcing a new album for release this spring. The ’90s hit maker plans to drop Set In Stone on May 7.
Produced by rootsy Grammy winner Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell), the project will mark Tritt’s first full-length album of studio originals in more than a decade. A Georgia native with a rumbling, soulful baritone who broke out as a part of the vaunted “Class of ’89,” Tritt scored his first Number One single in 1990 (“Help Me Hold On”), and went on to post a string of memorable hits like “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)” and “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” through the early 2000s. But his last charting single as a solo artist came in 2007, and his previous album The Storm arrive that same year.
Set In Stone will feature 11 new tracks — eight of which Tritt co-wrote with notable artists such as Brent Cobb, Ashley Monroe and more.
In addition to the album news, Tritt says he’ll also unveil a new single next week, announcing “Smoke In A Bar” will be released on March 5. In January Tritt shared a social-media post stating he’d just filmed a music video for the track, and the singer has also been playing the bluesy track live as concerts begin to return.
