Country favorite Trisha Yearwood is helping plant the seeds of gender equality in a uniquely fun way, joining the cast of the new FarmVille 2: Country Escape social game.
Explaining that she enjoys the FarmVille franchise and believes in the uplifting way women have been presented by the game, Yearwood will appear in the new title as a down-to-earth farmhand avatar. Meanwhile, her empowering new single “Every Girl in This Town” will play “as she helps fans find rare items on their farms and gain access to in-game rewards that help them meet daily goals.”

Your response to “Every Girl in This Town” has been so incredible! Even @zynga loves #everygirl! They’re giving me my own Trisha Yearwood character in @farmville_2 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the game! Thank you for supporting me and my music, let’s make women supporting women the trend #EveryGirl supports! Xo
“As someone who plays FarmVille and having grown up on a farm in Georgia, the game ties back to my roots,” Yearwood says in a statement. “With women also being the central characters in all the FarmVille games, it shows that farming — like music, tech, politics, science and entrepreneurship — should be accessible to anyone.
“So much has happened in the last decade, across technology, entertainment, and attitudes,” she goes on. “But there are shared experiences that endure and bring people together, like those special songs that become anthems or a powerhouse game like FarmVille.”
Yearwood made the announcement while visiting the headquarters of Zynga — the company which created FarmVille — and debuting her single as part of the Women of Zynga Community Breakfast. The firm is currently celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the original FarmVille’s release, and a new FarmVille mobile game is in development.
Yearwood’s “Every Girl in This Town” is out now, and she can often be found onstage with husband Garth Brooks as part of his ongoing Stadium Tour. FarmVille 2: Country Escape is available on the App Store and Google Play.
