Trisha Yearwood is well on her way to being fully vaccinated from COVID-19! The singer shared on Instagram that she received the first dose of the new vaccine.

“This #EveryGirl finally got her first dose of the vaccine! To all who made this day possible, thank you,” she wrote with a photo of herself receiving the shot.

News of her visit to the doctor comes just several months after the Georgia native tested positive for coronavirus. Her husband, fellow singer Garth Brooks, shared that his wife had contracted the virus in February. In early March, she was declared COVID-free. While it’s been almost two months since her bout with COVID-19, Yearwood admitted recently that she has yet to gain back her sense of smell or taste.

“I can tell if something is spicy, that’s about it,” Yearwood said during a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “So now when I cook, I just ask Garth, ‘Tell me if it needs more salt and pepper.”

News of losing her taste and smell is especially difficult for Yearwood as she’s the host of her own cooking show and the author of several cookbooks.

Yearwood also explained in her chat with Clarkson that her doting husband would not leave her side.

“I’m like, ‘You have to get away from me. You have to quarantine in another room… I cannot give Garth Brooks COVID,'” she said. “And he never did [contract it]. And [when] he had the vaccine, he didn’t have any [side effects] — not even a sore arm.”
