Tristan McIntosh Channels Inner ‘Good Girl’ On American Idol

The second half of the Top 24 on American Idol took to the stage for their solo performances last night. Channeling her inner Carrie Underwood was 15-year-old Nashville native Tristan McIntosh.

While dishing out her best attitude for the spunky song “Good Girl,” the judges were not thoroughly impressed with her song choice.

“Listen, I really felt like by the end that really picked up steam,” said Jennifer Lopez. “The beginning looked to me like you were really thinking a lot and the end felt like you were feeling more. And that’s when it got good. I think you need to concentrate on that.”

Harry Connick, Jr. was a bit for straightforward with his critique. “You’re super talented,” he explained. “The good news is that I heard you doing something I haven’t heard you do before which is sing loud so congratulations on that, but the bad news is that, maybe with the exception of Shelbie tonight, everybody  is kind of giving okay performances. It was fine, but is that a performance you would sing on the finale of American Idol?”

Keith Urban agreed with Connick’s thoughts and made sure to remind the teen that song choice aside, she’s got “Star” written all over her. “Here’s the good news… you have so much talent and you look like a million bucks. All you got to do is find the right song. I like that song, I didn’t like it for you, but you have everything else. You’re going to kill it when you put the right song in there.”

Tonight, Tristan will duet with a former Idol before five contestants are sent home and the show will form it’s Top 14. Do you think she will make it? Watch American Idol tonight at 8/7c on FOX.
