The Voice Recap: Joanna Serenko is Wildcard Pick, Joins Top 9

The coaches on The Voice would likely tell you that any time they have to eliminate a member of their team it is difficult. But 11 weeks in, with live rounds upon us and the end in sight, it’s absolutely heartbreaking for coaches Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Blake Shelton to make these difficult cuts. With host Carson Daly at the helm, these necessary eliminations were made.

Following the Top 17 performances, America chose one contestant from each team to continue on in the competition, and the coaches also chose a member to remain for another week. In addition, the singers with the highest scores from each team were given the opportunity to compete in a Wild Card round that would secure their spot in the semi-finals.

And with that, the cuts began. Continuing on in the competition are:

Team Blake
TODD TILGHMAN – America’s pick
TONEISHA HARRIS – Blake’s pick

Team Legend
CAMMWESS – America’s pick
ZAN FISKUM – John’s pick

Team Kelly
MICAH IVERSON – America’s pick
MEGAN DANIELLE – Kelly’s pick

Team Nick
THUNDERSTORM ARTIS – America’s pick
ALLEGRA MILES – Nick’s pick

The four remaining singers with the highest scores from each team and performing in the Wild Card round are:

JOANNA SERENKO – Team Blake

Blake: “It’s just amazing how smooth your voice is, how warm it is, how accurate you are.”

MANDI CASTILLO – Team Legend

John: “It was beautiful, it was soulful, it was heartfelt…that was a gorgeous, gorgeous performance.”

CEDRICE – Team Kelly

Kelly: “I hate to use this word because I sound like such a tool, but you are such a star…I cannot wait to buy your record one day. You are bigger than this moment.”

MICHAEL WILLIAMS – Team Nick

Nick: “Wow, star! What a performance.”

And the final singer in the Top 9 is: JOANNA SERENKO

On May 11, the semi-final round kicks off with the Top 9 performing for Fan Week. The results follow on May 12.
