With his new single “90’s Country,” Walker Hayes has been taking a look back at a decade that was all that and a bag of chips. While the singer has been excited to revisit what the iconic decade had to offer (“Slap bracelets are still cool,” he told us), he’s also had a hard time embracing the biggest fashion trends of the day.

“Honestly, we’ve had a tough time making a tour shirt for a ’90’s Country’ shirt that I love because I really look back at that stuff and I’m like, ‘Why did we wear — Why did we wear those colors and those big letters. Like why did we think neon mismatched was so awesome?’” he asked with a laugh. “I look at 80’s and I go, ‘I get it. It’s pretty dope. It’s flattering.’ 90’s, I’m just like ‘jumpsuit?”

While Hayes is hoping to leave his fans looking fly, he admits that at home, his kids have eagerly embraced the hottest television shows from the time.

“My kids just completed every episode of Saved by the Bell,” he admitted. “I was so proud of them. It was not forced upon them. The first season’s pretty terrible, but by second season they were hooked. I’m talking hooked.”

He added that the kids are also big fans of Netflix’s Fuller House, which recently announced that it will enter its fifth and final season later this year. “They also are big fans, but that was before I even wrote or finished ’90’s Country,’ so I didn’t have to force that.”

Hayes will keep on his path of reviving the 1990s when he hits the road for his Dream On It Tour, beginning Thursday, Jan. 31, which is no doubt gonna be hella tight.
