AMERICAN IDOL - 'American Idol' returns to ABC for season three on SUNDAY, FEB. 16 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EST), streaming and on demand, after dominating and claiming the position as Sunday's No. 1 most social show in 2019. Returning this season to discover the next singing sensation are music industry legends and all-star judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, as well as Emmy¨-winning producer Ryan Seacrest as host. Famed multimedia personality Bobby Bones will return to his role as in-house mentor. (ABC/Scott Patrick Green) LIONEL RICHIE, KATY PERRY, LUKE BRYAN

It’s no secret that the judges of American Idol have a serious task at hand. But Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are no stranger to a good time. With Season 18 of the star-discovery favorite underway, a couple of new videos show how the famous trio unwind when break time hits.

First up is a cute clip that demonstrates how the judges really “roll,” with Perry and Bryan letting loose inside the Milwaukee Art Museum on roller skates. Apparently, Perry made an offhand comment about how the porcelain white audition location would make a great skating rink, so producers went ahead and made #skatyperry a thing. But Bryan might actually be the true roller-natural here, sliding to Perry’s rescue after a fall and even busting out his backwards-skating skills.

Meanwhile, Richie seems to prefer to spend his free time doing what he does best — even when it requires him to learn a whole new instrument. In between takes during this season’s on-camera audition phase, Richie felt compelled to try out one of the contestant’s sample pads, and the result is a hilarious “remix” which proves you can indeed teach an old dog new tricks. Perry gets the assist on this one, though, since without her teasing Richie might not have felt the need to defend his “with it” musical status.

Check out more hijinks, and of course more music, as season 18 of American Idol continues each Sunday on ABC.
