It’s that time of year again, when the stockings are hung and the tree is all lit, and children everywhere wait on Saint Nick. It’s a magical season, that’s for sure. But what are parents to do when that patience runs out, and the kids are are too excited to sleep? Well, country superstar Brad Paisley has a solution.

He’s filmed a special story-time reading of The Elf on the Shelf’s Night Before Christmas, telling the fun-filled tale of everyone’s favorite hidden helpers.

Narrating the story with just a dash of his signature wit, “Uncle Brad” recounts all the work elves do while everyone’s in bed. The book’s based on the popular Elf On the Shelf tradition, which finds Santa’s elves secretly moving about the house each night, and it’s about as heartwarming as it gets.

Paisley turns page after page, reading each line and showing off the vibrant illustrations, and seems to enjoy his time almost as much as performing. Sitting in front of a cozy stone fireplace and getting wrapped up in the story, he even ends up impressed by the elves can-do Christmas spirit.

“Those are some crazy elves,” Paisley says at the end of the book.

Meanwhile, it seems like Brad Paisley is an honest to goodness fan of the Elf On the Shelf tradition. Over on his Instagram page, the hit maker showed off his own personal Elf On the Shelf collection, complete with camouflaged elves and set to the sound of Hank Williams Jr.‘s “A Country Boy Can Survive.”
