Watch Carrie Underwood’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ Opening, Featuring Joan Jett

Sunday Night Football is back! Sunday, September 8 began a brand new season of NFL Football. Kicking off the season was the debut of Carrie Underwood’s new Sunday Night Football opening video.

The minute-long clip begins with the powerhouse singer strutting across the rooftop of a building with a city skyline in the background. As she begins singing, clips of football players including Russell Wilson, QB Seattle Seahawks; Julio Jones, WR Atlanta Falcons; Baker Mayfield, QB Cleveland Browns and others, flash across the screen.

As the song progresses, Underwood makes her way to a stage within the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta to belt out “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night,” alongside rock icon Joan Jett. The two jam out in between more clips from Sunday Night Football from throughout past seasons.

Jett’s appearance marks a milestone for the NBC special as her song “I Hate Myself For Loving You” was adapted for the original “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” theme, which debuted in 2006.

“I have always been a huge fan of Joan’s, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining us for the Sunday Night Football open,” Underwood said previously in a press release. “What better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime’s biggest stage?”

Underwood and Jett’s new open will air every Sunday night ahead of the featured game. For a full schedule, check out the list below.
