Luke Bryan can hardly contain his heart in the new music video for “Up,” as the country superstar connects his new single’s faithful message to the daily lives of his small-town fans — and to his life as well.

Marking the sixth single from his Born Here Live Here Die Here album, “Up” features another strong dose of country pride from the Georgia native — but this time presented with a tender touch. Written by Jeremy Bussey, Taylor Phillips, and Bobby Pinson, the track is all about the happy times and traditions of growing “up” in rural America, and keeping one’s faith until they’re called “up” to heaven above. And for the song’s reflective video, director Shaun Silva helps bring that theme to life.

Set in an old barn that’s been converted to a makeshift movie theater, the clip finds Bryan watching home videos of his own life in action — including film of his father and late brother, his children being born and later on, the whole family going hunting together. Meanwhile, others watch their own stories unfold as well, with weddings and other important milestones flashing on screen.

Speaking about the video as it was debuted, Bryan explained that his reactions to the film are genuine, since what the camera captured was his first time seeing it.

“When I saw the footage of my boys with both their grandfathers and then the closeup clip of my brother basically looking at me it was so overwhelming,” Bryan said. “I could not be prouder, not only of the message of this song, but also how this video turned out.  I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as I have.”

While “Up” climbs “up” the charts, Luke Bryan is about to start a new season of co-judging American Idol on February 27, and he just celebrated the Georgia Bulldogs winning NCAA college football National Championship.
