When Nashville makes its much-anticipated return for its fifth season on CMT and Hulu, two series regulars will be written out of the storyline.

TV Line is reporting that Will Chase (Luke Wheeler) and Aubrey Peeples (Layla Grant) will not be returning to the show.

The news may not come as much of a surprise to Nashies as neither of the characters have much of a storyline left to complete. After Chase (Wheeler) ended his engagement with Connie Britton’s character, Rayna James, much of his storyline was left to fighting for Wheelin’ Dealin’ Records’ star Will Lexington, played by Chris Carmack, who had a run-in with a homophobic talk-show host.

Season four ended with Layla trying to destroy the relationship between Hayden Panettiere’s Juliette and Jonathan Jackson’s Avery in order to avenge the death of Jeff Fordham.

While a season five premiere date has yet to be announced, it’s believed that production for the show will begin soon.

Fans hoping to take home a piece of the show can bid on Nashville memorabilia through an online auction that runs through July 26.
