William Shatner started off reigning over the television world with his work on Star Trek, but now it seems like he wants to give country music a try.

The legendary actor recently created business ties with Heartland Records Nashville by signing with the label to work on “a very special project that will be released later this year.” Although it’s unknown what the project may be, the label reassured how exciting this endeavor will be for both their camp and Shatner.

“This new project promises to be one of the most entertaining musical ventures to date for the Emmy Award-winning actor,” Heartland Records Nashville wrote in a press release about the signing.

Although it may sound shocking to fans of the actor, but Shatner has experimented in the music world before. He’s released a total of eight albums in his career, with his latest hitting shelves back in 2013. Shatner is also very well known for his own rendition upon the Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” which has been parodied by other shows on television.

He even has a country connection by way of Brad Paisley, in which the actor has been featured in a number of the singer’s videos. While Shatner starred in the clips for “Online” and “Celebrity,” Paisley popped in on Shatner’s cover of “Space Cowboy” from a previous release.

No further details about Shatner’s upcoming work have been given at this time.
