Zac Brown Band Responds To PETA

Zac Brown Band

Zac Brown Band was contacted last week by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and were encouraged to extend their “love of freedom to animals.” PETA wrote “In your song 'Chicken Fried,' you praise the simple pleasures of life-a cool drink, a home filled with love, enjoying the sunshine-all pastimes denied to the millions of cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals raised for food on factory farms every year.” In addition to the letter, PETA also sent the band “a basket of delicious, protein-rich faux meats.”

ZBB responded to PETA last night via their Twitter page, saying the following:

Dear PETA – Plants are living creatures too… Bacon had a mother but so did Pickle. It takes life to support life – welcome to the planet… Chicken is the new Tofu.

PETA has once again reached out to the band, responding to that tweet by saying “Dear @zacbrownband plants have no central nervous system unlike the animals who r mutilated piece by piece.”

We’re not sure about you guys, but we have a feeling that PETA won’t change the minds of the guys in the Zac Brown Band!
