Much has been made of the vocal magic of David Nail before. When he’s on – and he’s seldom ever off – he stands as one of the top vocalists in the Country Music genre – or any other genre, for that matter.

For his latest project, Nail delivers a solid set of cover recordings of some of his favorite pop songs. The track that has got the most attention so far has been his take on Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover).” Is he going to make you forget Adele? No, but that’s not the point. The Missouri native knows that trying to re-paint the Mona Lisa would be very unwise. Taking that into effect, he gives the track a very soulful sound which you have to hear to appreciate.

He gives the same treatment to Elvis Presley’s 1969 classic “In The Ghetto.” Nail adds his own touch upon the Mac Davis-written classic, but also tips the hat to one of his fellow artist who once lived close by the Mississippi in Presley. He also does a nice job in covering The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” where he delves deeper into his soul side as ever before, showing himself to be not of this world.

For my money, the top track on the album is his take on Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight,” which is an ultimate joy from start to finish….and speaking of the finish line, Nail hits the mark on “Looking For A Good Time,” which is a recording of Nail’s from seven years ago. It’s another reminder that smoothness never goes out of style. If nothing else, Uncovered serves as a reminder of his greatness, and also makes the fan look forward to a new full album even more!
