Reed Elliotte, an 11-year-old history lover and presidential expert, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on December 28 to chat with guest host Jojo Siwa about his love for history. The young guest, who wore a red, white and blue suit, shared that he’s an “old soul” and feels as if he’s 81 years old. To celebrate his “81st birthday,” Elliotte had a party inspired by Loretta Lynn, who he admits is his “celebrity crush.” The party featured a cake with Lynn’s picture on it as well as performances of her songs by Elliotte himself.

“She was the theme of my birthday party,” Eliotte told Siwa. “I sang some of her songs like ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter,’ ‘You Ain’t Woman Enough’ and ‘Whispering Sea,’ which was the first song she’d written.”

The young history fan also went on to talk about his admiration for 12-year-old Macey Hensley, another presidential expert. Hensley has appeared on the show multiple times since 2015. Elliotte shared that, while he has chatted with Hensley on the phone, he has yet to meet her. Guest host Siwa then surprised Elliotte as Hensley walked onstage. The two shared their admiration for one another and Hensley presented Elliotte with a gift set containing books and presidential trinkets.

“I think it’s awesome that you’re trying to learn about the presidents and coming out here and inspiring other younger kids to go out and learn about that stuff because that stuff is awesome,” Hensley told Elliotte.

At the end of the interview, Elliotte shared his story of beating cancer twice. Siwa then presented Elliotte with a check for $10,000 to support him and his family after his cancer battle.
