‘American Idol’ Contestant Chooses Josh Turner’s “Your Man” To Showcase His Voice

Sixteen-year-old Scotty McCreery chose Josh Turner's No. 1 hit “Your Man” to be his ticket to Hollywood during recent auditions forAmerican Idol, which aired Wednesday night on Fox.

The deep-voiced Scotty, a student at Garner High School in Garner, N.C., auditioned in Milwaukee, WI. Josh is flattered that the aspiring singer would choose one of his No. 1 hits to showcase his voice for Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, who gave Scotty a unanimous 'yes' to advance him to the next round.

“I got the link to Scotty’s audition the other night,” he says. “I am honored he would choose to sing one of my songs and I’m impressed by his voice and his character. I’ll definitely be pulling for him! Maybe he’ll sing my new single in Hollywood? Totally kidding.”

After the show aired, Josh became a popular topic on Twitter. It was another Josh song, his current single, “Wouldn't Be a Man,” that earned praise on Twitter from Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson. “'I Wouldn't Be a Man' by Josh Turner gives me chills,” she tweeted. “What a beautiful voice. I've had it set on repeat for about 30 minutes now.”

The humbled Josh tweeted in response, “Well, thank you Shawn!”
