Brad Paisley Proves Why He’s The Entertainer Of The Year In Orlando, FL

CMA Entertainer of the Year Brad Paisley brought his H2O Frozen Over Tour to Orlando, FL on Thursday (2/24). Paisley’s show made history as the first country concert to come to the brand new Amway Center in downtown Orlando…the city welcomed him with open arms.

Jerrod Niemann got the party started with a set that included his No.1 single, “Lover, Lover” and his latest hit, “What Do you Want.” He also sang three of his best drinking songs, “How Can I Be So Thirsty,” “One More Drinkin’ Song,” and “For Everclear” from his chart topping album Judge Jerrod and the Hung Jury. In addition, Niemann sang “Good Ride Cowboy,” a song that he co-penned for Garth Brooks. Jerrod is definitely one of Nashville’s hottest new stars- go see him if you get the chance.

Seeing Darius Rucker live is always a treat. Not only does he sing hits such as “Come Back Song,” “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” “This,” and “Alright” from his two No.1 country albums, he also sings Hootie & the Blowfish hits like “Hold My Hand” and “Let Her Cry.” It’s almost like getting two concerts in one! He also sings a killer cover of “Purple Rain” by Prince. The crowd always goes crazy for that one!

Paisley hit the stage singing “Water” (how appropriate, right?!) and went on to sing hit after hit including “Online,” “Celebrity,” “Letter To Me,” “Mud On The Tires,” and “She’s Everything.” He also sang his latest single, (from his forthcoming album of the same name) “This Is Country Music.”

Fans were on their feet singing along to every song throughout the evening. With a list of hits as long as Paisley’s it must be tough to select songs to fit into a one hour, 45 minute set. I’d hate to have that job!

Paisley’s show would be just as entertaining if he stood there with no flashing lights, video, or special effects because he’s such an amazing vocalist and musician, but that’s not how Paisley does things. You can tell that he is really involved in all of the planning; his personality stands out in everything from the set design to the videos that play on the giant screens behind him. When you see Paisley live, you get a show…not just a concert.

Just like he did last time I saw him live, Paisley walked to the back of the arena to give the folks in the “cheap seats” a better view. Of course fans in the back went crazy. That’s what I love about Brad. He always finds a way to go above and beyond and get just a little closer to the fans. Another thing that I’ve always admired about him is the fact that he brings fans an amazing show for a low ticket price. I believe the most expensive ticket in the arena was about $60.

One thing’s for sure, Paisley lived up to his title of Entertainer of the Year on Thursday. Paisley wrapped this tour on Saturday in Nashville, but I’m sure it won’t be long before he hits the road again. You definitely need to make a point to see him next time he’s in your city. You won’t regret it.
