CMIL Gets “Sideways” With Dierks Bentley In Atlanta, GA

As you know, I hit the road this week to see Dierks Bentley at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA on Tuesday as part of the Samsung at&t Summer Krush concert series. If you follow us on Twitter, you already know that I had an awesome time at the show! (I posted TwitPics throughout the show from my new Samsung Jack phone!)

Dierks Bentley

Dierks hit the stage around 10pm with his most recent No.1 hit, “Sideways.” It was the perfect way to start the party! As you can imagine, the energy level went through the roof! Everyone was dancing and singing along from that point forward.

He went on to sing other hits such as “How Am I Doin’,” “Free And Easy (Down the Road I Go),” Feel That Fire,” and others. The crowd was loving every minute and sang along to every word. After telling the crowd that the historic venue used to be a church, Dierks decided to add the song “Better Believer” to the set list. He mentioned that they had never done the song live before, but you couldn’t tell. The performance was rock solid.

In the middle of the set, Dierks slowed it down a bit and played hits such as “My Last Name,” “Come A Little Closer,” and “Long Trip Alone.” He also sang his latest single, “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes.” (Which I absolutely LOVE!)

He immediately picked up the tempo again and the crowd was rockin’. After closing the show with “What Was I Thinkin’,” he went on to sing a few cover songs including one of my favorites, “Folsom Prison Blue” by Johnny Cash.

I’ve seen Dierks a quite few times over the years and I have to say, he gets better every time. That man is seriously one of the best entertainers in the business. He knows how to work a stage and a crowd. Dierks literally came out into the audience from the stage three times during his set….and fans loved it. He’s not afraid to get up close and personal with fans- He even let fans sing a few lines into the mic!

I have to point out how good he is to his fans. I spotted him outside the venue before the show surrounded by people. He was taking photos and signing autographs for everyone in sight.

He also spent time after the show doing the same thing for fans who waited outside the venue after the show was over. He obviously doesn’t have to spend time signing autographs and taking photos for everyone, but he does…and that says a lot. He is definitely a class act.

There’s no denying that Bentley is on his way to super-stardom. He’s obviously been very successful so far- 2009 has brought a No. 1 album and two No. 1 singles for Dierks, butI have a feeling this is just the beginning of what’s to come.

If you have the chance to see Dierks live, do it. You will not be disappointed! You can catch him out on the road with Brad Paisley on the “American Saturday Night Tour” throughout the summer.

I’d like to thank Samsung at&t Summer Krush for sending me to the show! I had a GREAT time!

AND…a special thanks to Amy for sending us her concert photos! You ROCK Amy!
