Remember Chris Cavanaugh? We first introduced you to him back in April with a Listen UP! post. Chris recently released a brand new song to iTunes called “I Ain’t The One Who Said Goodbye.”
Chris took some time to tell us about the new song that he co-wrote with hitmaker, Jake Owen…
“Jake invited me out for a week on the road with him to write and hang out and Jake came up with this really cool melody and vibe and he just started mumbling some lines and I said ‘we need to write that!’, not knowing what the idea or ‘hook/title’ of the song was gonna be,” Cavanaugh tells CountryMusicIsLove. “After about a week of messing around with the song and adding lines here and there whenever the inspiration hit us, and whenver he wasn’t in interviews and meet and greets and on stage, we finished what was this song, ‘I Ain’t the One Who Said Goodbye.'”
After the song was complete, Chris went back to the studio and recorded a raw, stripped down version of the song with plans to record a full blown recording of it in the future, but that’s not what happened.
“After a while of listening to it and getting such good feedback on it from friends I just decided to release it as is,” he tells us. “The recording is simply me sitting in a recording booth with a guitar and singing it from top to bottom. My buddy Derek Wells put an electric part on it afterwards and I put a harmony part on it and it was done.”
