EmmyLou Harris Charged With Hit-And-Run Accident, Pleads ‘Not Guilty’

Emmylou Harris has been charged with a hit-and-run, according to TMZ.

Harris allegedly crashed her rental car into another vehicle on the 405 freeway in Las Angeles in October of last year and left the scene of the accident. The L.A. County District Attorney filed the misdemeanor charge on Wednesday.

California Highway Patrol began their investigation after the other driver filed a report, which claimed the 65-year-old singer slammed into the other car on October 1st around 10 p.m., then left the scene. Harris’ rep said the accident was a “garden-variety accident that happens every day on the 405,” and that she only left the scene because she hadn’t realize she had been in an accident.

A lawyer for the GRAMMY-winning singer entered a “not guilty” plea to the court on Wednesday afternoon. If she is convicted, Harris could face up to six months in jail.
