Fans, Friends and Neighbors Help Find Dierks Bentley’s Missing Dog

Dierks Bentley on WhoSay

Dierks Bentley’s beloved dog Jake went missing Sunday evening, but thanks to his friends, fans and neighbors, the pup was returned home safely this morning.

Bentley alerted fans that Jake had gone missing via Twitter around 8:30 pm Sunday evening.

“Jake has been missing for 5 hours now,” he wrote. “[He] jumped a fence during the thunderstorms. Praying someone found him. A cold wet white dog. Red collar.”

As it always does, the Country music community came together to help find Jake. Fans spread the word on social networks. Bentley’s neighbors and friends, including Mike Dungan, the president of his record label, went out to search on foot. They continued to search into the night even though there was no sign of Jake.

“Still looking,” Bentley Tweeted around 11pm. “We really appreciate all the support. Overwhelmed by it. Thank you.”

Thanks to a nice neighbor and the help of Facebook, Jake was found and returned to Dierks. He shared the good news with fans this morning.

“Omg. My wife just told me someone found Jake on Facebook and is bringing him to our house,” he wrote.

A kind lady named Anna Belle found Jake walking down the road and picked him up after she witnessed him nearly being hit by a car. After Jake was reunited with the family, Dierks once again took to Twitter to update fans.

“One of the happiest days of my life. Grown men don’t cry…yeah right. Thank you to everyone on Facebook and Twitter that spread the word.”

We’re so glad this story had a happy ending. What they say is true – a dog is really man’s best friend!
