Florida Georgia Line ‘Still On Cloud 9′ After Signing Record Deal with Republic Nashville
Earlier this month, Florida Georgia Line, one of country music’s hottest new acts, signed a record deal with Republic Nashville. The duo, comprised of Tyler Hubbard from Monroe, Georgia and Brian Kelley from Ormond Beach, FL, is still trying to absorb the good news.
“I’m definitely still on cloud 9,” Hubbard tells CountryMusicIsLove. “I don’t even think it’s sank in all the way. It’s definitely a lot to take in at once that’s for sure.”
The duo is joining a roster of artists that includes superstar Martina McBride, The Band Perry, and Eli Young Band. Republic Nashville is also part of the Big Machine Label group, which is home to Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, and Reba, just to name a few.
“It’s unreal to be a part of not only that amazing team of artists, but to be a part of the label,” Hubbard explains. “We’ve become one big family real quick. It’s been an amazing ride.”
Brian echoes Tyler’s sentiments calling it “a dream come true.”
“We couldn’t be more excited,” he tells us.
Although they just signed their record deal last month, Florida Georgia Line already has a strong fan base. The duo, who released a five-song EP to iTunes earlier this year, has been playing shows across the country for quite some time. They often host what they call “after show hangs” to meet their fans.
“We are strong believers in networking and building a strong fan base,” Hubbard says. “Our saying is ‘shake a million hands, make a million fans.’ We truly believe one fan at a time.”
Tyler and Brian also make a point to interact with their fans online.
“BK [Brian] is really good at the Twitter thing. If it wasn’t for the fans, we wouldn’t be where we are. Our number one thing is feeling the connection with the fans,” he says.
Florida Georgia Line’s feel-good summer anthem “Cruise” officially hits country radio today. The song, which landed at No.4 on our list of Top 15 Songs of Summer 2012, is sure to be a hit. If you haven’t heard it yet, click HERE to purchase the single on iTunes.
