George Strait’s “Troubadour” Goes Platinum

George Strait's "Troubadour"

George Strait’s Troubadour has been certified platinum by the RIAA commemorating 1 million in sales. King George now has 33 different platinum or multi-platinum albums, resulting in the most RIAA platinum certifications in country music and third in all genres, behind The Beatles and Elvis Presley.

The good news doesn’t end there. Soundscan reported yesterday that it’s seen a more than 300% increase in sales for three of his albums – Troubadour, 22 More Hits, as well as his 50#1s 2-Cd set. The significant sales increase is due largely in part to the George Strait: ACM Artist of the Decade All Star Concert which aired on CBS last week.

The King of country music is currently working on his next album, Twang, which is set to his stores this fall. The debut single from the album, “Living for the Night,” is the most added song this week on both R&R/Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts, garnering 63 first-week adds!

Strait is set to open up the new Cowboys Stadium this weekend. He sold out the stadium, which is one of the largest sports and entertainment venues in the world, in less than one hour.
