Glen Campbell & George Jones Honored by The Recording Academy with Lifetime Achievement Awards

Glen Campbell and George Jones were honored Saturday, February 11, with Lifetime Achievement Awards by The Recording Academy in a special invitation-only ceremony held at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Both country legends were in attendance at the event with members of their family; George arrived with his wife, Nancy, and Glen was accompanied by his wife, Kim, and three of his children.

During the emotional celebration, Campbell and Jones were recognized for their musical contributions throughout careers that have collectively lasted over a century. Campbell has remarkably released over 70 albums while Jones has more than 150 hits to his credit. Video highlights prepared by The Recording Academy of each of their respective careers were shown as a tribute to the Lifetime Achievement Award recipients. Jones accepted his award giving most of his thanks to the country music fans. “I believe I have to thank the fans mostly for making my career successful,” he said. Campbell, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease more than a year ago, accepted his award with his wife by his side. Together they thanked the many people who have been associated with Campbell throughout the years, including his great fans.

There will be a formal acknowledgment of the 2012 Lifetime AchievementAwards winners during the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast, which will be held at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles tonight, Sunday, Feb. 12, and broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.
