Julianne Hough: Second Country Album Has Been Done ‘A While’

After a successful career in ballroom dancing, Julianne Hough crossed over into the country music world where she found instant success. Back in 2009, she was given a spot on George Strait’s tour and later, she won her very first ACM Award. With an absence of any new music recently, as well as her new-found success in the world of film, fans have been left wondering whether or not Julianne is finished with her singing career. While promoting her new movie, Footloose, earlier this month, Julianne revealed that her sophomore country album has actually been completed for quite a while.

“It’s done,” Julianne tells NBC Los Angeles. “It’s been a while since it’s been done, and so I’m like, ‘Well, I kind of want to rewrite some new things.’ I would rather just release it online and just let fans hear the music that I already have, that I can’t publish – but my label would get really mad.”

There’s been no official word from Julianne’s label on what the hold-up is for new music.

Fans were able to hear a few new songs from Julianne recently, but it wasn’t in a conventional way. Julianne’s cell phone, which included recordings of songs on the album, was hacked and the songs were posted on the internet. The album, reportedly titled Wildfire, includes a song called “I’ll Be The DJ,” which was co-written by Carrie Underwood.

While fans wait patiently for more music from Julianne, they can catch Footloose in theaters now.
