Loretta Lynn is giving fans a deeper look into her life and career in the new documentary, Loretta Lynn: My Story In My Words, premiering on PBS on February 27. The documentary, which comes 50 years after the release of her classic song “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” will feature old and new interviews with Lynn as well as classic performances to tell her story. The documentary includes the singer’s rise throughout over 50 years of music and history-making hits such as “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” ”Don’t Come Home A’ Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)” and more.
The documentary will also serve as precursor to the release of Lynn’s 50th album, Still Woman Enough, which is out March 19. The album, produced by Lynn’s daughter Patsy Lynn Russell and John Carter Cash, is a celebration of women in country music and will feature collaborations with Reba McEntire, Carrie Underwood, Margo Price, and Tanya Tucker. The project will include new recordings of classic songs such as “Keep On The Sunny Side,” “I Saw The Light,” and a recitation of “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”
“I am just so thankful to have some of my friends join me on my new album. We girl singers gotta stick together,” Lynn shared in a press release announcing the album. “It’s amazing how much has happened in the fifty years since ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’ first came out and I’m extremely grateful to be given a part to play in the history of American music.”
