New Jessica Simpson Reality Show Official

You’ll remember that Jessica Simpson was so persistent about her country music career that she vowed to record a second album even if she had to do it on her own. After being dumped from her Nashville label, it was uncertain which path Jessica would choose, and it seems that, at least for now, she’s staying out of the music business.

VH1 has officially picked up a new reality series that Jessica was shopping around to different networks called The Price Of Beauty. Beginning in mid-July, Jessica (and cameras!) will travel the world “to study the local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes and even participate in some of the extreme practices she discovers,” according to JustJared.com.

“When [Chris Coelen, CEO of production company RDF Media] approached me with his idea for a show about true beauty, I was immediately intrigued,” Simpson said in a statement. “I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect… I know that every day the media’s going to challenge me, is going to want to bring me down,” she said. “But I feel like I’m at such a place that I own myself, and it’s authentic. I own that authentic part of myself, and none of those words are harsh enough to make me believe them.”

Jessica will also executive produce the show alongside her father/manager, Joe Simpson. There’s no word yet on a date for the first episode, but we’ll keep you posted.

What do you think of Jessica’s new venture? Will you tune in? Will you miss her in country music?
