As you know, “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” aired Sunday on ABC. The show had an average of 7 million viewers and was the most-watched program during its three hour time slot, according to The Nielsen Company’s ratings released earlier this week. According to The Tennessean, the shows rating increased by 1 million over last year.

“We are thrilled that CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock was so successful with television viewers last night,” said Steve Moore, CMA chief executive officer (quote via The Tennessean). “We want to thank the fantastic artists who participate in CMA Music Festival each year, and the amazing fans who come to Nashville from around the world to enjoy their talents. The success of the special demonstrates what we already knew: country music is America’s music.”

Tickets for the 2012 CMA Music Festival are available now.
