UNC Children’s Hospital Benefit Show

Last week we told you about a benefit show for the University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital that was featuring performances by Heidi Newfield, Jimmy Wayne, Jo Dee Messina, Darius Rucker and Jason Michael Carroll. One of our viewers, Crystal, attended the show and was nice enough to share a recap and pictures from the day!

All performers played 5-6 songs, did interviews with radio stations, met with the fans, and Darius, Jason & Jo Dee even went to visit the children in their rooms. (Jimmy & Heidi may have, but we’re not positive on that one.)

When it came time for Jason’s performance, he was wearing a “Dora The Explorer” sticker on his shirt – it turns out that one little girl who had cancer (and may have even gone home that day!) had given him the sticker and he wanted her to see that he was still wearing it!! When it came time for Jason’s last song, “Living Our Love Song,” he dedicated it to Brittany and told the crowd that the hospital was the last place that Brittany had seen him perform before she lost her battle to cancer. After he finished the song, which was Brittany’s favorite, he met with each and every fan.

The best part of the whole day?! – the event raised $1,001,622 for the children’s hospital! What a great day – thanks Crystal for sharing it with all of us!
