When Shreveport, Louisiana native Jordan Davis hit the country music scene with his debut single, “Singles You Up, fans took notice. The bearded songwriter decided to keep things light with his first time at radio with a track that encourages a girl to hit him up if her boyfriend is ever stupid enough to leave her.

“I usually take forever to write songs but we wrote that one in about an hour and a half, and I just knew it was something, that it was a big song,” Davis told Sounds Like Nashville over the phone of the song he wrote with Steven Dale Jones and Justin Ebach shortly after Ebach became engaged.

The song took to radio and fans quickly, who can bop along to the catchy beat and easily learn the ear-worm chorus.

While the track has gotten fans to bite on the up-and-comer’s musical stylings, there is still much to learn about Davis. With that, Sounds Like Nashville decided to sit down with the former environmental science major and get to know him a bit better. In a round of 10 Things You Didn’t Know, the singer dished on everything from the song he currently has on repeat to the item he can never leave home without. Asking the hard hitting questions, SLN also had to know: how does he maintain that bushy beard?

“I maintain my beard by a beard shampoo, a beard softener and various beard oils. There’s a lot that goes into it,” Davis said with a chuckle.

Fans can catch Davis out on the road with Kip Moore and Drake White on Moore’s headlining the Plead The Fifth Tour. The tour will hit several more cities before it wraps on December 2 in Columbus, OH.

“Singles You Up” is available on iTunes and streaming services now.
