Thomas Rhett’s Wife Debuts Baby Bump on iHeartRadio Music Awards Red Carpet
The couple couldn't stop themselves from gushing over the exciting news of having two kids on the way as they took the red carpet by storm.
Thomas Rhett was all smiles at the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards for good reason. The rising superstar took the stage for a stellar performance of his hit single, “Star of the Show” and took home the trophy for Country Artist of the Year while his wife, Lauren, glowed with happiness over the debut of her cute little baby bump on the red carpet.
Lauren Akins wowed the crowd with her stunning looks—baby bump included—while dressed in a form-fitting black ruffle-sleeved mini dress alongside Rhett in a cool vertical-striped bomber jacket and black jeans. The couple couldn’t stop themselves from gushing over the exciting news as they took the red carpet by storm.

“Hey heyyyyy @iheartradioawards are here and baby bump is OUT,” wrote Akins in a sweet Instagram post from the night.
Just weeks ago, the couple revealed that they were not only expecting their first child together, but also adopting a child from Africa. Since then, they’ve been all smiles and have even been updating fans about the progress along the way.
The country star even admitted to E! News that he and his wife are making this period into a complete baby moon before each of the kids come home for the first time.
“I think we’re both kind of in this zone where we’re like lets go do everything we ever thought we were going to do before our children get home,” he revealed in an interview from the red carpet.
Rhett got the surprise of a lifetime during the show when receiving the award for Country Artist of the Year, given to him by his own tour mate, Kelsea Ballerini. With all the jitters and elation over where his life is headed right now, the “T-Shirt” singer couldn’t help but mention the award was one for the record books for his soon-to-be newborn.
“My wife is 18 weeks pregnant right now and so this is also our unborn daughter’s first award show,” Thomas Rhett said in his acceptance speech for the award. “That’s pretty rad.”
Taking the stage for a cinematic-style performance of “Star of the Show,” Akins was spotted looking on with great pride over her husband’s dynamic rendition of the track written with her as the inspiration.
