It’s official – American Idol will return to ABC for season four on February 14, 2021. The major network confirmed the news on Tuesday morning (11/10).

Returning to the series will be Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie as judges, Ryan Seacrest as host and Bobby Bones as the in-house mentor.

The show got an early renewal, with ABC confirming the news back in May after completing season three virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. Just one month later, it was confirmed that Bryan, Perry and Richie would return to the judges table.

“Katy, Lionel and Luke are fun, astute and really know how to spot talent,” added executive producer and showrunner Trish Kinane. “Their chemistry is undeniable, and we are delighted that they, along with host Ryan Seacrest, are returning to find the next superstar and take ‘American Idol’ to new heights next season.”

In October, Bones revealed that he, too, would be returning to the reality competition series.

“Super excited to announce that I’m coming back to American Idol! Yes! Love the show, love everyone there,” he said in a video posted to Instagram.

Filming for season four is already underway, with social distancing measures in place.

Tune in to American Idol season four when it returns Sunday, February 14, 2020 at 8/7c on ABC.
